This spring we are introducing three outstanding new contemporary works by Lena Liu.
"Sonata" and "Recitals" are 9" x 12" images and are available for $40 each for print and $145 each for the canvas transfer. "Seeking Roommate", 19" x 24" in print, is at $105 each, and the canvas, 18" x 24", is $345 each. framed. (please click-on the link for our framed canvas price list)
"Sonata" and "Recitals" are two muscial mixed-media pieces that can be framed beautifully to fit into today's home. They also make very good companions for our previous releases, "Chamber Music" and "Big Band." We have received a great deal of interest in these pieces recently. We believe that finally people are accepting and appreciating good contemporary art. All four musical pieces deal with space divisions but still possess the quality of classical elegance.
Next, "Seeking Roommate" "Seeking Roommate" is a painting that Lena did for her own amusement. She adopted a tiny Chihuahua two years ago. When she first got her, the tiny dog looked pitiful and full of anxiety. Lena saw through her dog's eyes a universal urge for relationship and stability. She felt that in this society today, people tend to have feelings of uncertainty- not knowing what to do, what to look for. A stable relationship is really the best thing that one can wish for. Lena was inspired to use materials from the classified ads and incorporate them in the city buildings. She painted her tiny little dog standing alone on the street looking anxious amidst these large building. This is a very emotional piece that everyone can read into and create his or her own version of the story. Lena did this painting two years ago and just left it at her studio until a group of friends asked to see the painting of her now smug-looking three-year-old Chihuahua. She showed this painting to her friends for fun, but everyone was so touched that they encouraged her to share this piece of art with more people. That is why we decided to publish this unusual piece.
We feel that these three new pieces are a little different from the traditional Lena Liu works, but the sensibility is still the same. Beyond that, all three pieces have wonderful geometric composition and neutral color combinations. Together, they shall be very good sellers for this year.
